Interview: Ann Atkins
“She’s the best man in my cabinet!” exclaimed Israel’s first Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion, affectionately referring to the only woman in his cabinet Golda Meir. It’s easy to say that Israel’s former Prime Minister Golda Meir was one-of-a-kind.
We welcome Ann Atkins to our program this week. Ann wrote a moving book entitled, Golda Meir – True Grit. She and Chris will talk about Golda’s unique outlook on life that started at the age of five years old. And we’ll learn how the Jewish people did not always agree with Golda’s forward thinking in politics. One thing is for certain: It’s plain to see God had His hand on this woman and used her in the rebirth of modern Israel. You won’t want to miss this interview!
Ann Atkins’ Flash History Biography series covers: Eleanor Roosevelt ~ Unleashed, Golda Meir ~ True Grit, and Marie Curie ~ A Nobel Life. Ann’s books have reached International shores and her presentations include: the National Press Club, International Women’s Day in Washington DC, civic groups and universities. Reaching beyond 3D stories of ‘who, what, and when’, Ann presses to the 4D of ‘why’ the story is relevant to her audience. Ann has lived and worked in Korea, England and Germany. Her master’s degree from Boston University encompasses studies at the University of Cambridge.

Apples of Gold
One day as Zvi was walking in the orthodox section of Jerusalem a group of men approached him. He noticed their confidence and saw that their teachers (rabbis) were with them. One of them asked him what God he believed in. Zvi asked why they would ask such a question and quoted a verse they all recited daily, “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one!” Deuteronomy 6:4. This began a lively discussion where Zvi was able to share Jesus in the Hebrew Scriptures.
Zvi’s story is available in Elwood McQuaid’s book, “Zvi: The Miraculous Story of Triumph over the Holocaust,” available at our online store.
More stories from Zvi are also available in his book, “The Best of Zvi,” available at our online store.
The Friends of Israel Today and Apples of Gold theme music was composed and performed by Jeremy Strong.
