Interview—Bassem Eid
This week, our host and Bible teacher Chris Katulka welcomes Bassem Eid to the show for an interview.
Bassem Eid was born in the Jordanian-occupied Old City in East Jerusalem, whose place of residence became the United Nations Refugee Works Agency (UNRWA) refugee camp of Shuafat. He spent the first 33 years of his life in Shuafat. He rose to prominence during the first Intifada, the Palestinian uprising, and was a senior field researcher for B’Tselem,[1][2] the Israeli Information Center for Human Rights in the Occupied Territories. In 1996, he founded the Jerusalem-based Palestinian Human Rights Monitoring Group. He formally ended his work at the group in October 2010. In 2011, the group closed. Since 2003 he has worked as a political analyst for Israeli TV and since 2009 he has worked as a commentator on Palestinian politics for Israeli Radio (Reshet Bet).[3] In 2016, he became the chairman of The Center for Near East Policy Research,[4] an Israeli advocacy group that produces documentaries critical of the UNRWA, foreign aid to Palestinians and the right of return. The Palestinians Never Miss an Opportunity to Miss an Opportunity
Many Palestinian leaders have passed up opportunities to solidify a Palestinian state. Chris tells us how this trend of rejection of offer after offer is an indication that they really don’t want to establish peace with the Israeli people, and in contrast, how much Israel is invested in the peace process.

This is a gem of a book for fair-minded people who want to understand the Arab-Israeli conflict. It is a comprehensive presentation of the conflict’s history and the resulting realities for Israel. For more than 20 years, peace talks initiated by the United States for a two-state solution have failed, leaving America looking weak to Arab nations and doing nothing to improve its relationships with countries in the Middle East.
Apples of Gold—A Fruitful Day
For many years, Israelis have sung about the Messiah’s coming. Not many are aware that He has already come, which is why Zvi goes to the Western Wall every week to hand out Bibles. Hear about the wonderful opportunities he had to share about Jesus the Messiah to many at the Wall in this dramatic reading from the life of Zvi Kalisher.
Music
The Friends of Israel Today and Apples of Gold theme music was composed and performed by Jeremy Strong.
