Eternal Security

Can Christians lose their salvation? The Bible says when we become believers in Jesus the Messiah we become a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17). God’s free gift of salvation cannot be taken away. It is not a conditional gift. God’s Word also says that our flesh is at war with this new creation (Romans 7). The struggle with our desires happens whether you have been a believer in Jesus for 10 minutes or 80 years. But we will learn today that we will always struggle on this side of heaven, but that struggle cannot touch the work God did in saving you.

There is a peace we can have as believers, knowing that God holds our salvation in His hands. If you are a genuine believer in Jesus, there is nothing you can do to be separated from Him. This fact does not mean we have a license to live our life the way we want, but instead it should put us in a state of thankfulness. The God of the universe chose us, wretched sinners, to become His sons and daughters through no work of our own, but instead through the work Jesus the Messiah did on the cross.

Apples of Gold: How Can We Believe in Jesus and Still Say We are Jews?

After living in Israel for 36 years, Zvi could walk down the street and be recognized by many. Some greeted him warmly, others greeted him with scorn and ridicule. One man stopped and looked at him in shock and said, “Are you still alive? People like you should be dead!” When Zvi replied by sharing his faith in Jesus, the man accused him of believing in a new religion. With a crowd around him, Zvi explained to them that believing in Jesus was not something new but something God talked about in the Hebrew Scriptures.

  1. Thank you for this valuable teaching! I hear so many who deny the doctrine of eternal security despite how much it is taught in the Scriptures by Yeshua, Paul, John and others. Thankfully, denial is not a salvific issue. And as much as I hear from professing believers that Yehovah has no remaining program for Israel and that He has rejected His chosen people, if I wasn’t so strong in my Christian Zionist beliefs and Biblical doctrinal beliefs I might succumb to that negative idea. But like Paul, “For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.” Philippians 1:6 We need not worry, fear nor live in anxiety that we can offend God in such a manner that would cause Him to cast us out of His family as adopted sons and daughters. Thanks for the FOI ministry and the opportunity to partner with you. Chris, with so much emphasis in the Bible on rewards and treasures in Heaven, would you consider doing a program on the bema judgment and the importance of the rewards we refer to as “crowns”? There are 5 crowns, 4 of which all believers are eligible for and 1 available to pastors only. Again, let me reiterate how much I enjoy listening to the program on Friday night. I especially enjoy the Zvi reading segment; I just read Zvi by Elwood McQuaid and will be ordering the sequel, Zvi and the Next Generation in a couple weeks, although the English version isn’t available in the FOI store but I found it elsewhere. Praise Yehovah for His faithfulness, both to Israel, believers and me.
